Suggestions of places to visit - staying near Biot

We are a family of five - Mum Dad and 16, 13 and 10 year olds. Visiting the area for 10 days during the summer and trying to loosely plan our days of where to go and what to see etc. I am open to any suggestions but below is what we think .. so far..... in no particular order.

Marineland (near where we are staying)

Aquasplash (under duress might I add)

Nice - thought would visit and use the map the people give you for open bus tour to see main sites on foot - have done this in other cities and works well for central tourist must sees. Could we maybe take a couple of days here ?

Cannes

Monaco

We are staying near enough Antibes that we will probably visit a few times for evening meals etc

People have mentioned taking train and crossing over to Italy - is this a worthwhile journey?.

We hope to use the trains - is there a flat rate price or what way do they work ?

Thanks in advance for any advice or tips.

You can buy a 1 day go anywhere train pass for 35 euro (family) or 15 euro individual. This will take you anywhere from Cannes to Ventimiglia in Italy including Nice Monaco etc. Also inland to Grass and Tende (in the mountains). Worth going to -Juan les Pins (great beach),Villefranche,Menton. Also bus to hill villages of St Paul de Vence and Eze. Biot too is a great hill village.

The family rover train day ticket [Pass Isabelle famille] covers 2 adults and 2 kids under 16 for 35 euros

single person rover -15 eurso - aka Zou PASS 06 [make sure you pick the zou pass 06 as that is the correct one for this area]

You can buy them online and print at home [specify the date ] or from the train ticket office

https:/…hotdeals

No point in using these for close by places- eg antibes , jlp - but worth it if going to mountains [eg Sospel, Tende ] , italy [vintimille]

Antibes and JLP are doable by bus 200 1euro 50/person, you can also use envibus bus 10 for Antibes

Inland by envibus bus number 10, you can see Biot village and valbonne village - that would be the easiest option for village type day trips.

The general run of beaches along the Cote d'Azur is pebbly. This includes Nice and the very long beach near Biot Gare. However IMO the main thing about the latter is that it shelves quite suddenly so take care with the children.

The beaches at Antibes, Juan les Pins and Cannes are safe and sandy. JLPis at most 6 minutes on the train and a 10 min walk from the station to the beaches.

Thanks Ed for advice re beaches. We live near the North Coast of Northern Ireland and our beaches shelve dangerously in places and have rip tides so we are always very wary around the sea. Really appreciate this bit of advice and for the sake of a short train ride will opt for the beaches you mention.

Will print off info for the trains - makes budgeting easier if we know local journeys 1.50 euro each way - works our 15 euro for us for each return local day trip, then maybe pick couple further away destinations with the rover day ticket - is it a hop on hop off sort of ticket ?
