Helen will you have a car for some or all of the trip? It makes a difference on where to go
The daily market dat mentions is the famous Provencal market ( produce). It is every day July and August - not Monday rest of year.
There is a huge market all over the town on Thursday mornings - the main part is behind La Poste on Rue Lacan. Smaller markets Tues and Saturday at Rue Vanenberg.
St Paul de Vence needs combination of train to Cagnes sur Mer then 400 bus.
Biot is No.10 bus. Beach at Juan les Pins No.1 bus or a 25 min walk. But 3 town beaches in Antibes..
Other - walk around Cap d.Antibes and also up to Lighthouse/Chapel on top of the Cap.
I was just going to ask a similar question
We won't have a car and have already been to Biot, St Paul De Vence, Valbonne, Grasse, Mougins, Cannes, Eze, Monaco, Menton, San Remo, Vallaurus, Chateauneuf, San Rafael, Villeneuf, Beaulais and Haut de Cagnes....is there anywhere else relatively easily accessible by bus or rail from Antibes?..we just like to look around the general streets and small shops while visiting places
Any advice is much appreciated
the friday morning market in valbonne has a nice atmosphere- its a pretty place and different architecture/layout from other old towns in the area and you can combine easily with Biot village.
saturday and Sundays near Antibes land at Biot Gare there is a a large car boot sale type second hand market - usually about 100 stalls
thursday morning market in Antibes is the best for clothes, shoes bags etc [there are aslo 2 smaller markets on tuesdayus and saturday monrings]
Saral - mouans sartoux - by train [direction Grasse]
sospel, Breil sur roya, tende, la brigue etc [train des merveilles from Nice ]
Entrevaux - train des pignes from Nice
cap ferrat - train to beaulieu then beautiful walk by promenade maurice Rouvier or bus 81
vence train or bus to cagnes then bus 94 or 400] , Villeneuve loubet village [train or bus to cagnes sur mer then bus 500]
Eze village - train to eze bord de mer or beaulieu , then bus 83
la Turbie- bus from Nice or monaco
St martin vesubie- bus from Nice
various natural parks
Thank you so much everyone. We will not have a car. Lots of suggestions for markets and visits. We are not particurly wanting to go to lots of big towns but smaller places and beach days. Is it worth day trip to Cannes or nice for markets?
Once again thank you. Oh yes, cheap supermarkets in walking distance from old antibes? We will be going to market early most mornings but just wondered about cheap shop. Thanks
Are the car boot style markets actually at Biot station? Thank you.
Yes Cannes and Nice are worth it, but as destinations to themselves - not just for the markets. The market in Antibes is fantastic.Edited: 18 June 2014, 22:46
The obvious places missing from your list are Nice, Villefranche sur Met an Juan les pins.
