Day Trips

I am in Cannes for 4 days and have been many times but wondered about 'day trips' out from Cannes that might be interesting for one person either by train or bus, can you help?

I am on my own and enjoy quaint shops (for those 'one offs'), cobblestone street villages, scenery, etc. But know absolutely nothing about the trains or the buses, in fact the last time I went to Cannes, I took the bus to Grasse and then proceeded to get lost and never made it ... so colour me 'duh'!!!!

Since you enjoy cobblestone streets, village plazas and beautiful views, you could hop on the ferry boat to St Tropez, and stroll around town for the day.

The ferry boat should still be running regularly from Cannes until Sep 30th (see http://www.trans-cote-azur.co.uk/cannes-saint-tropez.php)

If you're lucky enough to be there between Sep 29 and Oct 7, don't miss the "Voiles de St Tropez" event, with traditional and modern boats parading (and racing) in the bay.

The ferry is costly, but there's little chance of getting lost once on-board :)

Enjoy!

We travel in October and are based in Cannes. Here is my list of day trips and how I get from the train stations and bus stops to the parts of the towns I want to visit:

You might enjoy this topic that includes info on Cannes restaurants:

When dining on my own, I like 42 Le Croisette and Freddy's. For take out, go to the deli at the Casino's main market. I can get you directions when I get home, but It will help to know where you are staying. We're traveling now, and I'm doing well to get this much out on my new tablet. I'm still in "learning mode," but getting there!

Have a look at the perched village of Haut de Cagnes, which you can get to on bus 200 to Cagnes sur Mer, get off at the main bus depot and take the free shuttle bus (Navette) up to the top of the village and walk down, unless you are really keen on steep hills to climb. Haut de Cagnes is how a perched village should be: maybe 10 restaurants, one boutique at the top, the rest is residential.

I also like Biot, which is famous for craft businesses esp glass but be warned, many close on Mondays. You can take the train to Biot station and you then need to get the bus up to the village itself but I need Selkienice to come back and say which one.
