Campsites in Cote D'azur

We are 60 retired taking our own tent to France the first two weeks in June. We want the sun so are making for the Med. We are looking for recommendations for a campsite with excellent shower facilities, possibly a pool, or riverside, pretty, quiet and not loads of 'family' entertainment. Any suggestions?

most camping in the french riviera are located near Biot, Villeneuve loubet, Antibes, Cagnes sur mer

if you do not choose one next to the sea = they will be more quiet because children and young people prefer to be the nearest

camping with a pool is not frequent in this area because the real estate is expensive so camping are not huge

if you prefer huge camping with many facilities (pool...), you have a large choice in the area "Var", the next department after the French Riviera

it's more nature and less urban

around Frejus, Saint Raphael

but you will need a car to travel everywhere as it's less developped

I think all of the local camp sites have pools, exept for ones really inland which have less flat land.

None of the french campsites are geared to entertainment the way a british campsite might be

The campsites in the var - frejus etc seem more geared up to be a total holiday experience with sports and some night entertainment , partly because they tend to be in the back of beyond and can expand out

The ones here, in the alpes maritimes , are more likely to be a campsite with pool, maybe tennis and boules and a snack bar.

Some of the larger ones have limited night entertainment .-maybe a disco at weekends in high season , a karaoke night something of that order.

Will you be using public transport?

Have a look at this site - www.ukcampsite.co.uk - to find around a hundred campsites in the area you wish to stay.

On the Home page click on 'Other Countries (side of UK map), then on France and then 'Provence - Coté d'Azur'

Most sites listed have unbiased reviews and websites - booking is probably required at the time of year you are going.
