EZE or a village further up to Italian border?

Hi,

We are looking for an interesting place to spend a night on our way to Milan (driving trip). We came across Eze and it sounds lovely. Just wondering though if there is somewhere an hour or two up the coast that you would suggest instead?

Also can you easily drive into Monaco to see the town, if we are to stay in Eze?

thanks

Eze village is a good choice assuming you have no interest in larger towns, and there are a couple of very pricey hotels with equally pricey restaurants but stunning views down the coast. For more variety and choice for eating out and walking around of an evening Villefranche fits the bill better in my view. Both have easy access to Monaco for a little sightseeing.

Agree with NiceLife. Eze is great for an hour or so on a sunny day but Villefranche gives more variety. You can drive into Monaco from either and park in one of the vast underground car parks. Monaco's tower blocks not much different from a big council estate but a good place to buy a £100,000 watch.

The central area of Genoa is quite interesting if you prefer to stay further east.
