Day trip from Nice

Hi. I'd like to do a day trip from Nice that begins with a stop in Villefranche sur Mer, continues to Eze Village and ends in Monaco (then returning to Nice). Is this the easiest way to do it? I think these times are correct. Is there a simpler route by bus? Thanks.

Wednesday, July 30

Train to Villefranche sur Mer departs at 8:57am and arrives at 9:04am.

Free time in Villefranche sur Mer

Train to Eze sur Mer departs at 11:33am and arrives at 11:39am.

Bus to Eze Village departs at 12:10pm and arrives at 12:25pm.

Free time in Eze Village

Bus to Eze sur Mer departs at 3:30pm and arrives at 3:55pm.

Train to Monaco departs at 4:09pm and arrives at 4:17pm.

Free time in Monaco

Train to Nice departs at 9:13pm and arrives at 9:35pm.

So how about this? 8am bus to Eze Village arriving at 8:30am. 11:30am bus to Monaco arriving at 11:50am. 5:57pm train to Villefranche sur Mer arriving at 6:08pm. 9:29pm train to Nice arriving at 9:35pm. Good plan?

Tim....here is some timing to think about.

You can see everyting that Eze has to offer in less than 2 hours.

Arriving there at 8:30 is too early.

And you can see Monaco in 3 or 4 hours easily unless you were going to do a lengthy trip through the Aquarium.

So two hours in Eze is enough time to see the old town, le Jardin d'Eze and get a cup of coffee and a pastry at Chateau Eza while we enjoy the view?

In Monaco we want to have a nice lunch, in addition to seeing all the sights (including the aquarium). Maybe we'll leave for Villefranche sur Mer at 4:57pm instead. That'll give us 5 hours in Monaco.

Provided you don't have mobility problems can I suggest you add a stroll on Cap Ferrat. On the train from Monaco get off at Beaulieu, walk down to the seafront, turn right and then left just before the Royal Riviera Hotel. A lovely walk beside the sea for about a mile, which will take you past the homes of the super rich and the world's largest turtle (an artwork by Bernard Perroud) to St Jean where you can get bus 81 to Villefranche, a ten minute trip costing 1.50 euro.

I'm looking at the route map for bus 81. At which stop would I get on in Beaulieu or Saint Jean and at which stop would I get off in Villefranche? Also, at which stop would I get off if I continue on to Nice? I'm staying at the Nice Mercure Promenade des Anglais. Thanks.

If I'm traveling on bus 81 from Port de Saint Jean to Villefranche sur Mer, does anyone know which stop is the closest to the Villefranche sur Mer train station? I'm thinking perhaps Leopold II or La Barmassa.

So the day will start in Nice. I'll take bus 82 to Eze at either 8am or 9am. Then I'll take the 11:30am bus 112 from Eze to Monte Carlo. I'll have lunch in Monaco. Then I'll take the 4pm train to Beaulieu sur Mer. I'll walk the path to Port de Saint Jean. Then I'll take the 5:335pm bus 81 to Villefranche sur Mer. I'll do dinner there and then take the 9:30pm train back to Nice. Does this sound doable?

Tim,

How did your day trips go? I will be in Nice in a week and a half and am trying to figure out where to go on our designated day trip day and would love to know what your itinerary was and if you felt you had adequate time to see everything. Four places in one day seems like a lot! Thanks.
