Royal Westminster Hotel, Menton France

We will be driving along the riviera with the final destination of Tuscany, Italy.

Has anyone stayed in Menton recently? Is this town worth an overnight stay? It is just about the half way point to our destination and appears to be less costly than staying in Nice or Monaco.

Has anyone stayed in the Royal Westminster Hotel recently? The location looks good....on the sea and near the old town.

Thank you

About 2 Years ago stayed at Menton for 4 days found town very interesting, good beach, very good restaurants. Unlike Nice more relaxing and and very French not so many tourist from abroad. Over the last few years have stayed at Cannes and Nice, but this year in September will be returning to Menton. As regards Hotel we first stayed at the Napolean Hotel which was very good ,but after reading Tripadvisor reviews we are trying Hotel Princesse et Richmond. As you say Hotel prices are much cheaper in Menton. Hope you enjoy your stay if you visit.

did you get to stay at the Royal Westminster? We will be visiting Menton shortly, using it as a base to travelt to Monaco and Nice and along the Riviera. Still debating where to stay so would welcome your comments

Hello Chris,

Yes, we stayed at the Hotel Westminster and it is highly recommended. Our room overlooked the sea; it was clean and a great value compared to other higher priced towns. Menton has a nice old town.

Some of the rooms have balconies; ours did not. You might ask about a room with the ocean view with the balcony. One other note. The room was quite large.

There is no on site parking; you park your car in a garage about a block from the hotel. It is easy to drop off your luggage at the hotel and then park the car. The old town is literally just outside the rear door of the hotel; walk a block to the right and you are there.

In our case, we used it as an overnight stay en route to Panzano in Tuscany.

Hope you have a great trip. Feel free to ask other questions.
