This has been asked and answered innumerable times.

We liked Maison de Marie, which does an inexpensive lunch, as do many other good places, but there are soooo many to choose from, and perhaps L'Ecurie was good and not expensive for dinner. Chez Palmyre is cheap and characterful.

I researched carefully and took a list of various cuisines and prices with me:

Le Tire Bouchon,

Acchiardo,

La Voglia,

Le Tire Bouchon,

Bistro Antoine,

Juoni,

La Merenda,

Chez Davia,

Cafe de Turin,

Chez Juliette,

L'Ecurie,

Bistro Antoine,

L'Escalinada,

Chez Palmyre,

La Rotonde at the Negresco,

and especially, Fenocchios for an ice cream.

Our favourite places that serve great food at very reasonable prices are:

Chez Palmyre on rue Droite (usually open only for lunch)

Chez Davia on rue Grimaldi

Bar de la Bourse on Place Saint-François (open only for lunch)

La Petite Biche on rue d'Alsace-Lorraine

La Tapenade on rue Sainte-Réparate

René Socca on rue Miralheti

Restaurant Voyageur Nissart on rue d'Alsace-Lorraine

Acchiardo on rue Droite

Bon appetit!

And if you like crêpes, the Crêperie Bretonne Corentin on rue de Russie (close to Jean Médecin and the Nice Étoile shopping centrre) is excellent. Only has house wine though since they are from Brittany and serve excellent ciders, Small restaurant, reservation is better as it fills fast.

I would just walk around the Old Town, and see what looks good to you. That is half the fun.The menus and prices are posted outside, so you can decide. Walk around throughout the streets. There are some places that are a bit out of the main stream that were good. Enjoy!

The best in old Nice, that are the least expensive, would be Le Safari, La Voglia, Cafe Juliette, Acchiardo.
