Another question about traveling with a computer

I am thinking of purchasing a Dell Mini 9 for traveling - 2.5 pounds and adequate for email and looking up opening hours, directions, etc.

Of course, none of the apartments we are renting have internet service.

How common is it to have wi fi in bars and cafes. Should I just rely on paid for internet access once in a while?

We will be in Nice for 9 days and then further west in st. remy and villes sur auzon.

I also have another question but will post as different topic.

Wi-Fi is available in certain bars and cafes and they usually have a sign on the door or window advertsing this fact. Ma Nolan's Irish bars in the Cours Saleya and on the port have access as does Wayne's Bar (english pub) in the Old Town. Obviously you have to at least have a drink but it's not exactly a hardship!

wifi is everywhere from macdonalds to the main train station to the casinos , pubs and traditional cafes

this gives a list of over 400 places in Nice

If you go here and click on more search options above the map, you can put in the street addresses to get the closest hotspot

I rely on paid internet access once in a while - it's cheap and lighter than carrying a lap top, even a light, small one - besides, I can skype from most of the internet cafes if I wish, for almost nothing, but with more privacy than at a bar using the free access.

Internet cafes are usually very cheap in Europe.

Some hotels might have WiFi connections, but there is usually a charge.

I usually use the internet place at the bus station. The last time, for 15 minutes or so, the cost was 0.50 euro. There are many others for similar prices.
