Studio apartment is all one room but has an enclosed WC/shower, bed in one corner, kitchen in another (or thereabouts).

One bedroom means the bed is in a separate room from the living area.

Studios can work OK but look at what else is going on. Is there room for a table to eat at, how many sq m is the room, is there anywhere else to sit but the bed, how high up is the apartment and is there an elevator, is there a view or do you see the inside of a lightwell that could be anywhere in the world.

Layouts vary .

Studios are usually 1 main room with an open kitchenette and separate bath/shower room, although some have a separate kitchen too( the French call these, F1). Some studio rooms have designated sleeping areas with proper beds, some have wallbeds but in many studios the sofa is your bed. Some, but not all studios are big enough to have seating and dining areas too.

A one bedroom apartment should have 2 rooms one of which is a separate sleeping area with a door on it - the French call these F2 (2 pieces).

It is important to check the configuration and size.

We have seen several studios that are bigger and more desirable than 1 bedroom apartments.

Also look for outside space - a balcony or terrace if possible which can be an "extra room" and compensate for limited internal floorspace
