There is an express coach no 210 from the airport to Cannes daily every half hour

nice.aeroport.fr/upload/lignebus/8010372.pdf

Its somewhere around 18 euro, give or take.

Only reason to take a taxi is if you are out of hours, or someone else is paying and you are claiming it on expenses - which is a pretty good excuse.

…aeroport.fr/acces_stationnement_en/taxi/def…

Its around £ 70-85 depending on time of day or night

But if you have lots of time and like a bargain you can do it in less than two hours for one euro on the stopping local bus 200 pick up the otherside of the Promenade de Anglais

Thank you so much for your prompt reply! I am staying in Cannes for 3 nights and am not sure whether to stay for the rest of the week or move to Nice for the remainder, what is your advice?

As much as I love Cannes a week there would have me climbing the walls. Nice has masses more to do, see and explore. Museums, art and culture. Plus sensible shopping prices. Plus as the travel hub its very easy to make excursions to lovely places like the Villa Ephrussi on Cap Ferrat, and Villefranche "for lunch". If you can arrange it, a few days in Nice will get you excited for more.

The express bus costs €15.60 one way (I think it is cheaper if you buy a return, ie less than €31.20)

Taxi last week cost €95.

It is cheaper to buy a return.

The 210 express bus details are here including all the fare permutations

http://www.nice.aeroport.fr/acces_stationnement/bus/recherche.asp?lign_id={8790B106-13FA-480E-8751-2C189CCDAFFC}

Taxi rates vary depending on the time of day, number of passengers, amount of luggage etc.

Expect to pay upwards of 80 euros

As to whether you should move after 3 days, depends on what you enjoy and the time of year e.g. Cannes has great beaches, better access to the western Riviera, Antibes, the Isles de Lerins etc etc

Shopping in Cannes is better in than Nice IMHO and prices are the same, but Cannes has lots of exclusive small shops as well as the chains. Don't know what NiceLife was trying to buy- maybe a new yacht :)

Cannes offers easy access to everywhere along the coast, but Nice may be a better base if you intend to spend your time sight seeing the eastern Riviera in your remaining time.

Enjoy

Cannes will be ramping up for the film festival which runs from 11-22nd may next year,

There is vastly more to see and do in Nice -lots of museums - Modern Art,[MAMAC ] Matisse museum, Archaeology musuem and Roman amphitheatre and other remains, Palais Lascaris baroque house, Musee Massena [history of Nice and stately room interiors] , musee des beaux arts, musee d'Art Naïf, Fransiscan museum, paleontology museum, natural history etc - these are all free entry as they are run by the city of nice

additional museums - Musee Chagall and automata and curiosities museum which have an entry fee

also russian cathedral , lots of art deco, belle epoque/art nouveau and lots of baroque churches, botanic gardens etc

excellent walks in Nice : along the coast on the sentier du littoral, along the promenade des anglais, up to the colline de chateau hill, to Mont boron and Mont alban, in natural parcs Mont vinaigrier, and Eestiennes d Orves , canal du gairaut etc

alos easy access to inland walks etc via bus or train des merveilles, or train des pignes lines

Have you booked yr hotel in Cannes? Rooms are as rare as hens' teeth during the film festival (and much more expensive than usual) -- though it sounds as though you'll be there just before it starts, in which case all will still be fairly quiet.
