its reasy to do in one day any day but sunday or public holiday
use bus 82 or 112 to Eze village from Nice vauban , then take bus 112 from Eze village to monaco [times in blue in teh followimng timetable are for the 112]
return by bus 100 or train
Take the D6098 (the bit that follows the sea) out of town, then pick up the D6007 this is the MOYENNE Corniche (out of three). The autoroute is not as pleasant and the lowest corniche is fiddly. This one has great views as well. Under 45 minutes drive, but you will stop for pictures.
Speaking of views, after Eze I usually turn up higher on the Route de la Turbie, visit the monument, look over Monaco from the top, then make my way down (very carefully) the Avenue du Cap d'Ail to the principality.
It can be done in one day. You can leave Nice early in the day by bus, spend a few beautiful hours in Eze village- just wonderful- maybe eat lunch there, and then go to Monaco in the latter part of the day. When we were there, the casino first opened in the late afternoon into the evening- if you are interested in that. You can then take the train or bus back to Nice very easily.
May I point out that Monaco isn't all that nice. Unless you specifically want to visit the casino there or something, you could miss it out.
Unless you want to spend some money in the Casino or visit the wonderful Oceanographic Museum I would give Monaco half a day max. Spend a bit of time in Villefranche on the way back instead ( most beautiful place on the Riviera) - as well as Eze on the way. Pay 5 euro to enter the Botanic Garden at the very top of Eze Village or you won't see the iconic view.
I would follow selkie's bus schedule and take the train or 100 bus on the way back ( stopping at Villefranche). Driving is not a good idea in summer - parking is a real problem - and you will likely be pulled in by the cops stopping for pictures on the Moyenne Corniche.
Thank you for the help.
