where to have a picnic?

hi we are hoping to have a picnic either in a nice park or possibly beach whilst enjoying a celebration weekend In Nice, and as there are over 20 of us young and old alike could anyone reccomend where would be best obviously dependant on the weather begining of May, we were possibly looking at getting the train to cannes for the "posh picnic in the park" if anyone knows a place there instead. Very grateful for any feedback thanks.

The park by the Matisse Museum might suit your needs; it's near the municipal rose garden.

At the risk of repetition, more confirmation:

The olive grove in Cimiez is the best place for a party of your size. Its normal for extended familiesof locals here. Personally, I prefer the monastery garden but its ok for two not twenty.

The Coline du Chateau as others have said is the perfect venue for a large picnic. There is an area above the lift which looks out over the entire Baie des Anges. You often see extended familiy groups and there is room to spread out with a fantastic view.
