4 Day Trip in Nice

My wife and I are going to celebrate our wedding anniversary this August and we've chosen Nice because we've heard so many great things about it. I'd love some help and ideas how to plan our itinerary. We arrive on Aug 17 at 10.00 AM and Depart on Aug 21 at 11.00 AM.

We would like a hotel that is not more than $200 a night. What hotel(s) would you recommend?

Shoudl we rent a car or should we use public transportation. Not sure how difficult it is to park a car in Nice as well as park it overnight.

Should we take a few day trips or should we focus just in Nice area.

I would appreciate any help and ideas you can give to us so that we can make this a very special trip indeed.

Thank you

Oh dear--you've left it very late to have much choice of hotels, as many will be full up already, especially in a moderate price range. You could try the accorhotels.com web site (Novotels, especially) and venere.com. Good luck!

You don't need or want a car while in Nice. Public transport is excellent and easy to use. With the time you have in Nice, spend at least one day exploring that beautiful city. Then go by train/bus to Villefranche-sur-Mer, St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, possibly Eze-village, and Antibes.

I advise you to get a copy of the Michelin Green Guide to the Côte d'Azur for background research. At one of the Nice tourist offices you can get a city map and all sorts of other information.

Just put your dates into www.trivago.co.uk and 179 hotels are showing as available. Some are too expensive but many are in your price range. So you might want to start by looking there and finding yourself a hotel. The site compares prices on the hotel booking sites and finds who has the cheapest deal so you do not confine yourself to one booking site.

Good luck
