Another train question

I purchased and printed out my tickets...can I board the trains with what I printed, or do I need to exchange them for actual tickets?

Thank you.

What you printed *is* the ticket. Just get on board.

Have a look towards the bottom of www.nickbooth.id.au/Tips/FrenchTrain.htm to see if your e-mail looks like the e-tickets shown there.

All the tickets I purchased were on Trenitalia. After I purchased online with credit card, they emailed me a PDF that says "Ticket Details." I'm assuming this is the actual ticket with assigned seat numbers, bar codes, etc.

For journeys purchased from Trenitalia for travel entirely within Italy and on the direct night trains to Dijon and Paris, if your email has the train number, the coach and seat number (for trains with reserved seats) and most importantly your PNR code (this is what the train conductor wants to see), then that is all you want.

If you purchase tickets from Italy to destinations in Switzerland, Germany or Austria, you must collect real tickets from a ticket machine using the code supplied by email.

Strange posting this on the Nice, France forum as Trenitalia doesn't sell online tickets to there, only as far as Ventimiglia in Italy.

Thank you, perlizia. I do have all that information on the email Trenitalia sent me. I guess I posted on the Nice forum because that is where my train journey begins (Nice-Ventimiglia-Milan-Varenna). Didn't mean to confuse anyone. Appreciate all the help.

Perilizia, since I printed the e-tickets and confirmation like sfc mentioned, will it be necessary to time-stamp them in a machine in the train station before we leave Ventimiglia?

You do not need to time stamp any tickets for Italian trains that have seat reservations.
