Restaurant and Bar Recommendations Please

Hi

I'm planning a trip to Nice with four of my girl friends to celebrate our 40th birthdays. Does anyone have restaurant and bar recommendations. Looking for places that are off the tourist track (if possible!), or places that are a little bit special. We will be in Nice for 4 nights Fri - Mon.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

Flexible on budget. Not mobile - public transport/taxi's.

Thanks!

Two places that we had excellent dinners are Lou Pistou and Bistrot Chaud-Vin.

Well, hardly places for a special occassion to celebrate.

The "breathtaking sea-view"-restaurants are difficult to reach (at night) by public transport. So in Nice I would recommend:

"Le Bistrot Gourmand" (just lost his star, still good)

"Flaveur" (still has his star, refined, creative cooking)

"La Reserve" (balcony at seashore)

more "casual":

"La Cave de l'Origine" (in a wine-shop)

"Bistrot Fromager" (cheese restaurant in an ancient cellar)

Weather permitting: Roof restaurant of the Radisson or "Castel Plage"

Enjoy...

Did not find "Bistrot Fromager" in Google.

Do you mean Le Bistro du Fromager, 29, rue Benoit Bunico, Nice?

Yes, that's it. "Incontournable" when you're a cheese lover. Young, friendly team, good wine suggestions, nice surroundings in that medieval cellar. Reserve some days in advance.

None of these restaurants are really "off the tourist-track". But this is somewhat impossible in Nice, as the chefs can only pay for the tremendous rents by catering for the tourists. Of course there are a lot of "locals only" restaurants, but either not what I would choose for a "special occassion" or they are difficult to access by public transport.

When prepared to pay for a taxi, the "Chevre d'Or" (Eze), "Reserve de Beaulieu" or Allain Llorca (La Colle) might be (expensive) options. There, for a party of 4, taxi and drinks included it will sum up to € 600+

MissyAl,

Which kind of food and ambiance do your friends and you prefer - traditional, modern, inventive, bohemian, elegant, formal or more casual, big or small venue etc?

Hi

Thanks for the reply. We would like somewhere modern but more casual than formal. Not really fussed on venue size. Hope that helps narrow down any recommendations!

Thanks!
