Is it worth visiting any Riviera beaches in November?

Is swimming out of the question? Is it at least sunny? Will it be deserted, or how crowded? Locals only?

It depends how hardy you are. There are people who swim in the sea at Christmas, tho' personally I think they're a bit mad. But I've never tried it, so who knows. If it's sunny, plenty of locals who work within walking distance of the beach will be down there at lunchtimes with their sandwiches. There's nearly always some sun worshipper who finds a sheltered spot and sunbathes all year round. Mostly tho', it's just a few people who are fully clothed and enjoying a few rays of sunshine. Most of the private beaches will be closed, although some, like the Opera Plage in Nice will open on sunny days at the weekend to serve drinks. They won't have the loungers out tho'. It all depends on the temperature.

Current ten day forecast for the Riviera is seven days of continuous rain.

And November is historically the wettest month.

In St Tropez specifically (since we're on that forum), November will be quiet mostly with locals.

The Voiles d'Automne sailing race (Nov 9 & 10 this year) will draw a few extras around the quay and about town, but not nearly as much as St Tropez's other regattas earlier in the Fall.

The Pampelonne beach is gorgeous and wild this time of year. Beach-side restaurants will be closed and you'll see just a few folks fishing and a handful of others jogging or playing with kids. I'm afraid the water is getting cold for swimming though you'll inevitably find the extra hardy diving beyond the posidonia reef.

It could be sunny. Winters are relatively warm here (right now, 14C by the bay and everyone is complaining). But plan for some rain too.
