4 days 3 nights Villefranche ?

Hello!

My fiance and I are booking our honeymoon, so far we have Paris and Rome as our two bookends, but would like to do a couple of nights somewhere in the south of France. We are looking for a quieter stay, as the other two stops will be very busy and touristy. I personally have been to Nice, so I would like to try something new. We prefer quaint over flashy and would like to utilize this time on the coast to enjoy the sunshine/swimming. Any recommendations of affordable places to stay (that are still honey-moon worthy) or towns to stay in? Is Ville Franche a good option>?

Thank you!

yes, on the sea side, check villefranche or beaulieu sur mer = easy to travel between Nice and Monaco

few choices of hotel but you could find for all prices

or the other side, Antibes

but you didn't mention which month will you come ?

because july and august is crowded here

june and september will be better outside Nice

Thank you for your help! Those places are definitely what we are looking for. We are going in July, which we already know will be busy and rather hot, but we wanted to book a trip right after our wedding. We'll be okay.

Is Eze an easy day trip from Villefranche? We won't have a car, so we will be utilizing public transportation.

Thanks again.

if you are staying in Villefranche-Beaulieu =

bus 100 until eze sur mer/sea side

+ bus 83 or walk up 1hr (nice path but with good shoes)

yes public transport is enough for most things except in evening (and taxi are very expensive) so just choose a place near the center of a town with restaurant, supermarket...

I think you would very much enjoy Villefranche - old, quaint port-style village with good restaurants right on the water, nice beach, nowhere near as busy/hectic as nice, good clientele, and good transport links whether to Eze (we went last year, v good) or to Cap ferrat or Monaco etc. We first went to VF 5 years ago and have returned ever since - we've been to Nice, Cannes, Antibes but like staying in VF and heading out if we so desire.

Several really good places to eat/hang out (Le Cosmo, for example), nice wine bar bang on the water front at Hotel Welcome (though that's an expensive place to stay, probably the Darse or similar would be better), Rue Obscure always nice to walk through, old fort to explore, if you feel energetic hire a small boat from dark pelican for 3-4 hours to cruise around the (safe, nice) bay.

Scuba diving if you're into it, tho we just prefer to lounge/beach and do not that much at all as the town is an easy place to relax in.

There will be cruise ships, but many/most of those embarking heads straight out of Villefrance to tick off the boxes of nearby "must see" sights like Monte Carlo (yuk - horrid concrete jungle in my view...), but Eze is certaintly worth a visit and search this forum for details of the easy journey there from Villefrance.

One thing though: you won't need a car in VF, it'd be a bad idea, so don't get one.

Room 31 at the Hotel Darse has sea views in two directions but failing that any sea view room on the third floor is fantastic value for money.
