Lavender in September?

We are planning a trip on September 5, 2007. Is this too late to see lavender in the fields? Please help!

On the other main, global warming is changing the weather patterns in the sout of France; when we were there in October we had summery weather. So it's quite possible that in early September you might be able to find lavender somewhere in the area.

routes-lavande.com/about_lavender/crop.html

<Lavender harvest takes place between mid-July and late August - the date depends on the plant, the region and the weather that year. >

However, the French version of the site only gives July dates, and specifies early hand-picking for bouquets and later machine harvesting for perfume.

There might be a few stragglers in September!

Lavender in the fields in September will be too late in the season.

Lavender is best to see from June-July. Flowers are blooming.

then, due to the summer heat, they begin to get very dry but still smell very good.

The garden of the B&B where we stayed during the second week of October still had masses of lavender blooming.

We have a lot of Lavender on our property and the hot weather this year we had in June meant that the Lavender needed picking in July. We also had Lavender left in September because it was a second crop.

If you want to see the fields they have already been picked by September and are kept cropped to ensure a good crop for the following year.

To be honest September is too late for Lavender!

Have a good holiday
