MP2 airport, Easy to use?

I normally try to get to the car hire desk as quickly as possible in airports to beat the queues, leaving my family to collect the luggage. I heard there were no trolleys in MP2 so I would not be able to leave someone to carry 3 large bags and 2 children.

Is this correct about trolleys, or are the car hire desks well staffed?

Thanks for your assistance

Si

Having flown into Marseille terminal 2 with Ryanair several times I can't recall if there are trolleys or not. Its a very basic facility but this also makes for a much faster getaway.

The car hire 'huts' are all located to the right of the terminal when you exit, just a few minutes walk. We've always hired from Hertz, no problems whatsoever if you pre book on line beforehand, very efficient and friendly.

The cars are all in very close walking proximity making the whole car hire thing very easy and stress free. No buses to/from cars.

If theres no trolleys I wouldn't worry too much, collect your bags together and hopefully you'll have the same luck weve had.

There are very few trolleys at MP2 and the Hertz (and indeed all) car hire offices are about 5 to 10 minutes walk away just past the main terminal building - you can pick up a trolley here.

We always use Hertz at Marseille (about 12 times a year) and have only once had a problem with them in the past 5 years. The difficulty now is that they are Ryanair's preferred partner so if you get the timing wrong there can be delays.

My advice would be to leave your family at MP2, collect your car and then drive back to pick up the family and luggage.

Thanks to both responses,

my biggest concern is getting stuck behind a plane load of Easyjet passengers all queuing at Europcar (preferred partner) and it taking hours, perhaps I will just do the selfish thing and run for the exit!

There is a regular bus service into Marseille from the airport.

Search the Maeseille Airport web site for full details on times and costs.

Arriving on Ryanair and collecting a car from Hertz is a real problem (or at least it was for us).Hertz have a desk in MP1 so we went to it first from MP2.Re-directed to the prefabs in the car park.Hertz kiosk totally bombed out,had to wait in a long queue in front of 3 desk clerks even having pre-registered as a Gold customer and completed booking form online prior to arrival.Utter chaos.Very annoying because other hirers had few or no customers. It's the so-called reduction in price that Ryanair customers get from Hertz.I don't believe them.It was very expensive and it's only when you get to the hire desk that you can cost in the extras. Was 70 minutes from arrival at kiosk to collection of car keys-and car wasn't in the bay number they said it was.

Having said that it was a nice clean car.

Next time I will book through Holiday Autos.
