Whats open in August?

I am planning to come to Lyon 23 August -just for a short break, but am wondering what will be open? - Does everything close up for August, or will any shops/department stores be open and particularly the Musee des tissus? Many thanks for any information.

The really dead period is the first half of August, when the majority of the smaller shops and restaurants indeed close their doors. But from around 18-20th of August the situation quickly comes back to normal. The Musee des Tissus doesn't close for the summer vacation at all. The same goes for the supermarkets and many restaurants in the central part of Lyon.

I can confirm what Darth Feanor says: we just came back home last Thursday after our summer vacation, and several smaller shops and restaurants were closed. But we still could find a lot of places open: department stores of course, also all museums and many restaurants. Even today August 15th, which is a bank holiday, Monoprix is open and some other shops are too; And after the notes on the windows, everything will be open again on Tuesday 16th.
