We were in Munich about that time last year and needed everything from sweaters to shorts. Your best bet is to bring layers that you can add or subtract as the weather demands. And don't forget a rain jacket.
FamOf3 is right on with his/her recommendation. On and around May 15, 2013 are the Eisheilige, (the Ice Saints). These days, by southern German folklore, are the last real cold spells in the Spring.
Thanks so much - that is kind of what we thought - layers and be ready for everything. The monthly forecast looks like upper 60's right now. Hopefully it will not be too rainy.
Don't worry too much about rain. The forecast on the day we departed home was for rain and thunderstorms the entire week. We had exactly one day of rain, a couple of gorgeous sunny days and some cloudiness in between. You just never know, so be prepared, but the forecast will change day to day.Edited: 17 May 2013, 18:08
The thing about May both in Munich AND Berlin basically means, that you should bring all the clothes. The temperature may very well vary from 12° to 25° degrees. I wouldn't worry so much about rain, because you can just get an zumbrella everywhere =)
