From Munich to Venice, visit in German alps?

We will be flying to Munich in July and after staying In Munich we will be making our way to Venice but would like to stop somewhere in the German alps and then onto Innsbruck via Venice.

Would love suggestions on the a scenic village to stay in on our way to Austria? Somewhere that would be easy to access by train and then head onto Innsbruck?

Thanks for the suggestions!

If you don't want to make any big detours then Mittenwald is an obvious choice, it's on the slower but much more scenic railway between Munich and Innsbruck. Seefeld (in Austria) on the same railway line is another option altough the village is not as picturesque as Mittenwald.
