7 days in Germany

Hi,

We are from Australia and will be travelling in Europe from Nov to Dec for our Honeymoon, and will like to spend around 7 days in Germany around late November. We have never been to Germany before and it seems there are lots of things/places to see and visit.

We like to visit historical things such as churches, castles, medieval buildings, learn about the history and culture of Germany. We've cames across the "romantic road" and "fairy tale road" in our web seraches, not sure if they are doable within our timeframe.

We are still undecided on where we should base ourself at, Any suggestions are most welcome.

The end of November is the worst time to visit Germany, weatherwise. So forget about driving scenic roads and focus on the cities (e.g. Berlin, München) instead.

Many Christmas markets start in the last week of November, these can also be found in small historic towns.

I agree - it's not the right time of the year for any "scenic road".

I don't think you should "base" yourself anywhere, but spend your time in two or three different cities. You could, for instance, start in Berlin, then take the train to Leipzig (to get an impression of what has become of the former GDR), continue to Nürnberg (they have an old castle) and finish your trip in Munich.

Since you wouldn't be going back and forth, you wouldn't spend too much time on the train. And you'd still see different places.

If you're getting fed up with the cold rain that you'll probably encounter at that time of the year, google for "Therme" to find one near the places you're staying. There is one in Erding near Munich, for instance.
