Advice needed for an 8 days trip to Europe

Hi.. I will be travelling to Dusseldorf in February 2014 last week to attend a conference. I would have 8 days in my hand from 21st Feb - 1st March (Flying out) to explore as many places as possible. I have keen interest in visiting Belgium, Paris and a two day trip to nearby places in Dusseldorf. Does this itinerary sounds good Dusseldorf - Cologne - Any other place in Germany - Amsterdam - Brussels - Paris - Nearby trip for a day and then fly out of Paris.?? I desperately need suggestions and also an idea on Cost factor. Which are the other areas where i can stop over and would IBIS hotel be a good choice for this trip?

Don't get this really. Is the conference now inside the time frame between 21st Feb and 1st March?

And you'll fly back home on the 1st March from Paris - or?

Skip Brussels. Was just there last month. I wish I had devoted the night in Brussels to an extra night in Paris or Amsterdam.
