northern Germany

I am flying into Hamburg and have a few days to explore the countryside. Any ideas on where to go. I like outdoor adventure, people and their culture. I would consider a base in a small town and exploring from there.

When exactly are you going? Have some ideas but the odd idea depends on when you are travelling.

Also what is your definition of outdoor adventure?

Here is a truly off-the-wall suggestion, which, when you think about it, fits you to a "T" and is something totally different.

Why not take a short train ride north from Hamburg to Odense on the island of Funen in Denmark. This is a small town, which happens to be the home town of Hans Christian Andersen. It is a beautiful countryside with hiking and biking, plus a totally different cultural experience from Germany.

Think outside of the box!
