driving from Munich to EuropaPark and back

We are a family of 4 ( 2 kids) and plan to visit EuropaPark for 2 days. We might arrive at Munich airport and take a car. What places do you suggest we stop at en route to Rust and back? We have 10 days in all. I have never driven in Germany: how is the experience on the highways and are there frequent pay stops on the way?

http://www.gemut.com/ read through this page to get an idea, so far no toll for cars in Germany.

The fastes connection will be from Munich over Karlsruhe down towards Freiburg, Stuttgart and surroundings have a lot to offer, you also could visit the Black Forrest on the way, if you are 10 days in Germany not including your arrival and departure days it would be possible to drive back towards Munich over the Lake Constance area http://www.bodensee.eu/?lang=2

2 nights Munich, you shouldn't start driving on the Autobahn with jet lag, 2 nights around Stuttgart, 3 nights Europa Park, that would leave you with 3 nights in the Lake Constance area, or if you want to drive back the same way stay those nights in the Black Forrest or Alsace.

You might want to compair the cost of the car with one way advance purchase train tickets. You will not need a car in rust, and you will be paying for the car to sit in the lot. Price out Munich to Freiburg, then you can get the local train, to Ringsheim, and the bus from there. Then pick up a one way rental car in Freiburg.

Have a look at what I wrote in #1 of tripadvisor.com/…49932873 for weeks' worth of interesting things to see and do in this part of Germany. Near the bottom of my post is an excellent route that will take you from Munich via Memmingen to Freiburg (EuropaPark) with lots of excellent things to see and do that will interest the whole family and part of which is our favorite drive in Germany. There are also a large number of other amusement parks in Baden-Wuerttemberg besides EuropaPark, such as Germany's oldest one at Cleebronn north of Stuttgart, Tripsdrill ( www.tripsdrill.de ).
