Alternatives to Munich?

I'm planning on driving from Prague to Salzburg next June, and would like to spend a few nights in-between in Bavaria. I was thinking of staying in Munich, but, I'd only be staying for 2 nights, and am thinking that I'd prefer to stay in a less urban place - something with a more picturesque setting.

Any suggestions??

thanks,

How about...

Passau?

Regensburg?

Landshut?

Somewhere in the Bavarian Forest?

Burghausen and the Inn valley?

Chiemsee, or another of the lakes South of Munich?

Mittenwald?

Altmühl valley, Danube Gorge, Weltenburg abbey?

Cesky Krumlov and Lipno Lake, Bohemian Forest?

Just to name a few options.

Thanks for the suggestions - I checkout them all out and Mittenwald seems like a great choice, as I'm partial to mountains!

Mittenwald is marvellous; however not really between Prague and Salzburg, I'd have thought.
