Christmas Eve dinner in Munich

My apologies to rehash this topic - i have read the links on the right but it seems as though most of the websites have changed / no longer exist. So at the risk of upsetting our Munich experts, i post again.

we are spending Christmas eve and Christmas in Munich and would like to have a nice 3 course dinner somewhere - i understand from the previous posts that this will most likely be at one of the hotels.

Please will you advise some hotels / restaurants that do 3-course dinners to try? Not Michelin stars that would cost the earth but something with good food and a great Christmas-y atmosphere. I cant seem to find the sheraton/four seasons or hilton Christmas eve dinners mentioned in previous posts.

For Christmas Day, we are debating between the Ratskeller and Brenner Grill.

Thank you once again and apologies in advance.

Perhaps you could check the specific individual websites for your listed restaurants and then email with questions prior to making reservations, if appropriate. Also check the Platzl Hotel's restaurant (do not remember the name, Phistermuller?) and the Ayinger restaurant (owned by Platzl) - both are around the corner from Hofbrauhaus if that location works for you.

We did Christmas in Munich 2 years ago and had Christmas Eve at Ayinger (followed by drinks in the Hofbrauhaus) and Christmas Day at the Ratskeller, We really enjoyed both, especially Ayinger.

For Christmas Eve, anywhere open is likely to be serving a special menu at an appropriately enhanced price - and to require advance reservation.

With Christmas Eve falling on a Sunday this year, the number of places open may well be more restricted than in other years.

Certainly try the Hofbrauhaus - even though for Germans the 24th is the big day (rather than the 25th) I am fairly certain they are open
