Bayern Ticket from Munich to Salzburg

6 of us will be traveling from Munich airport to Salzburg on August 9, 2011. Can we just purchase the Bayern ticket at the airport after arriving, or we need to make reservation and purchase the tickets in advance? Thanks!

Reservations aren't possible on the local and regional trains covered by the

Bayern Ticket, and there's no reason to get it in advance - just buy it at the airport.

The Bayern ticket is only good for 5 persons. Kids under 6 aren't counted. If it's 2 parents + kids, you can take all of your own kids under 15 without worrying about exceeding the limit. So maybe you need 2 BT's?

Thank you very much for your information!

There will be 2 senior, 2 adult and 2 teenagers. We'll buy 2 BT's as you suggested.

We try to look up the train schedule online and work out our plan. Is München Flughafen Terminal and Salzburg Hbf are the main stations we need to look up?

Is Bayern Tickets available all the time, and any chance of it sold out? Appreciated your help!

Yes.

DB timetable

reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query2.exe/en?rt=1&

Start: MUC

Destination: Salzburg Hbf

and select as means of transport "only local transport".

> Is Bayern Tickets available all the time, and any chance of it sold out?

Always available. It cannot sell out.

You'll need

1 x Bayern Ticket EUR 29

1 x Bayern Ticket Single EUR 21

BayernTickets never run out, as they are not specific to any one route.

As you are a group of 6, you only need 1 BayernTicket + 1 BayernTicket Single.

I also want to ask question about the Bayern Ticket

I noticed in this forum that Bayern Ticket for group of 5 is sold for EUR 29. Does it mean we just pay eur 29 for 5 persons?? Or each has to pay eur 29?

We have only four persons travelling Munich and will visit Fussen also. Is it worth to buy Buyern Ticket?

thks

Yes.

1 person EUR 21

2 persons EUR 29

3 persons EUR 29

4 persons EUR 29

5 persons EUR 29

> Is it worth to buy Buyern Ticket?

Sure. Standard return ticket Munich to Füssen for 4 adults is EUR 184,80. And unlike a Bayern Ticket such a return ticket would not even cover the buses from Füssen station to Hohenschwangau (where the castles are). Nor all local public transport in Munich.

thks abalada

So we can buy at the airport, right? We arrive Munich by plane. Is it sold at a special counter or just in the machine? Is it sold at the Munich main station?

And we also heard Bayern ticket is only valid for train after 9:00 am, is that true?

Sorry for so many questions
