Munich for 3 hours?

We are flying from Rome to Paris through Munich in July. We have a choice of anywhere from a 45 minute to a 5.5 hour layover in Munich. Is there anything worth seeing that is close to the airport?

Go to the Biergarten in the airport.

You can drink beer at Airbräu (München Airport Center, Terminalstrasse Mitte 18, www.airbraeu.de). For nearest town you can choose Fussen, if you want to go to Munich itself with your 5.5 hours gap (minus 1,5 hrs train raid) you could probably only walk around between Marienplatz and Karlsplatz and then have beer in Hofbräuhaus or any other nice beer Kellers nearby (Hacker, Löwnebräu am Dom etc.)

Freising is a nice town out near the airport - I think that is what akirilenko meant rather then Fuessen (that's further south in the Alps).

Sure, yes. Sorry for mistake.

And anyway, whichever gap you choose and place to go you'll only have time for beer drinking. :)
