Neuschwanstein Castle

Hello All,

I am just wondering what is the best way to get to the castle from Munich and return from Neuschwanstein Castle.

Given that we have less than a day available as i have to board train to berlin at 22:00 from Munich HBF.

It would be great if anyone could advise what time we should be leaving Munich ..train or bus ?? and if we could get back to Munich by atleast 9 pm ???

Train Munich to Fuessen, then a bus from there to Hohenschwangau village. It is very easy. www.dbahn.de has the schedules. If you use the Bayern ticket, the train fare is very cheap, you just have to travel after 9am if it is a weekday.

You might want to reserve your Neuschwanstein tour tickets on line. That way you would avoid standing in line waiting to buy them, if you are going to be there on a busy day. But then of course you would need to plan to be at the ticket office an hour before your reserved tour time, so you can climb the mountain to Neuschwanstein itself. It should be no problem getting back to Munich by 9 p.m. Here's the website for Neuschwanstein. neuschwanstein.de/englisch/tourist/index.htm
