Munich skyline and Zugspitze questions

hi there, I have 2 questions..

1. there is a Munich rooftop photo on Google images for "Munich skyline',it's the 4th photo, with the Frauenkirche then Alps in background. Does anyone know where this is taken from?

2. we will be in Munich in July, my son has never seen snow... when I was last at the Zugspitze after a cold spring, there was still snow there... is it likely to have some snow year round? and is it our best option as a day trip from Munich to get his snow 'fix' ?

many thanks !!

Hi ozzie2010,

Yes, there is snow year-round on the Zugspitze. However, in the summer time it is more like patches than a snowbank one could fall into.

Do you mean this photo?

My suggestion is that this photo is made from the top of the glass dome of the Justizpalast

It was taken from on a building north of the Siegestor, on Leopoldstr., looking south towards the Alps: http://goo.gl/maps/8Qw9O

But I have no idea from which building.

You're right. Siegestor - not Karlstor.

Distance Siegestor (the gate) to Theatinerkirche (the yellow church) is 1,2 km. With this zoom factor the position of the photographer could be easily 2 or 3 km north of Siegestor.

A nice and free place to view Munich is on the hill in the Olympic Park. Very nice during sunrise or sunset.

Thank you, will look into that.

Should be lovely, searching for that perfect skyline shot...

Munich so picturesque, had such a brief visit last time, so am going to enjoy slowing down this time.
