Would Regensburg be an option?

I am looking for a place for my stag do,probably early next March.

I am a great lover of Munich due to it's beer halls and the way I can sit and enjoy a beer in a relaxed way,eat great food and generally have a great time in a relaxed atmosphere.

I also enjoy breweries and their histories.

Ideally I would like to fly to Munich then get the train up probably on a Thursday and spend Friday and Saturday doing a brewery tour (am I right there is a famous brew monastery near?) and maybe head to a football game and enjoy some beers with around 16 great pals before heading home on the Sunday.

My main concern is there enough beer hall type bars with a bit of atmosphere (any Bavarian Music like the Hofbrauhaus?) and generally enough nightlife (we really don't need clubs to be hones) to keep us occupied.

I have done Munich many a time so fancy a change and Regensburg looks lovely.

Thanks for the help!!

I don't know about Regensburg for beer, but Bamberg would certainly be an option.

Regensburg is a beautiful city with lots of bars and pubs to visit. It's a university town, so there is plenty of nightlife. The following sites might be useful.

There is also the historic sausage kitchen (Wurstküche), right on the banks of the Danube where you can sit and enjoy sausages, sauerkraut and plenty of beer. http://www.wurstkuchl.de/

I think the Kloster brewery you refer to might be Kloster Weltenburg at Kelheim. kelheim.de/poi/…

To get there by public transport takes around 50 minutes and involves a train from Regensburg to Saal, then a bus to Kelheim.

Regensburg have a football team currently propping up the bottom of the Bundesliga 2 . http://www.ssv-jahn.de/

The nearest Bundesliga 1 teams are in Munich and Nuremberg. www.bundesliga.com/en/index.php…
