Advice re: Ostbahnhof and EC Trains

We're flying into Munich in August and taking the train to Beassanone in northern Italy. Two questions:

1. The itinerary at bahn.de takes us on the S8 from Flughafen to Ostbahnhof, arriving Platform 1. To get to our connection, we go to Platform 8. Are these escalators and/or elevators to and from these tracks? Don't want to carry bags up and down steps.

2. Is there a huge difference between 1st and 2nd class on these EC trains to Italy? We're usually happy with 2nd class but we're thinking 1st might be better after an overnight flight.

Thanks for your help.

Walters, you have posted the picture of the U-Bahn station at the Ostbahnhof, the OP arrives with the S-Bahn from the airport - on the main track level.

Yes, as pretty much all stations with long distance trains service there are elevators and some escalators.
