Beer prices at the 2013 Oktoberfest have been anounced

The prices in the big tents will be between €9,60 and €9,85 this year

news article:

oktoberfest-live.de/wiesn/bierpreis-2013-vie… (in German, use google translate)

table with all the prices per tent:

oktoberfest-live.de/bilder/2013/06/10/294821…

I reckon 11 euro incl. tip is fair to pay.Locals might pay only 10.

Right now 11 EUR is about $14.50 US for nearly 35 oz. of fantastic beer. That’s nearly 3 - 12 oz. beers at $4.83 each. On a regular Saturday night we would pay $4.00 + tip for a (crummy) Bud Light. At an event on the scale with Oktoberfest (which we don’t really have anything, but let’s say the World Series or the Super Bowl), Bud Light would be 3 times the normal price.

So all in al,l 11 EUR is a great price I think.

I cannot understand why anyone from the UK could grumble at the prices.

£8.70 for a litre of class ale at Oktoberfest compared to what £7.30 at least for awful stuff back home.

Factor in the fact there is no entrance fee and I will gladly pay my €10.

I am off to the Open Golf in a month and it'll be around £4 for a pint of poor ale there.

@Walters, 4 years ago, in 2009, the price was 8,10-8, 60.

In 2005 it was 6,80-7,25

So about 30 cents raise every year.

I'm with Dodger on his point of value geographically. Good lager, imported from Spain, Belgium, Czech or Germany is currently costing £4 a pint + in 'trendy places' UK so it's a similar price. And the U.K. brewed stuff is dishwater even under license when it's supposed to be the same as imports ;-( Went to a Brighton cocktail bar last week, 2 pints and 2 cocktails = £28, that felt worse after a month in Belgrade with good beer costing 90p a pint!

The fest money can add up though, few masses and chickens, I reckon Grolland must be budgeting EUR100 a day for beer and the occasional chicken ;-)

Have fun, I was in Munich in April and still favour Hackers and Augustiner so recommend those beers,

I will miss this next fest, next visit October.

That's right, a hundred euros a day is about what I spend. Not cheap but it's the best party in the world!
