walking from ticket centre to neuschwanstein castle

Is the walk clearly marked from the ticket centre to the castle. We wish to walk up the gorge to the marianbrucke and then to the castle for our tour. Will this take about an hour?

The walk up the road is very clearly marked and will take you under an hour. The gorge walk is easier going down -- i don't know how long it takes going up.

The shortest walk up to Neuschwanstein is from the parking lot on that side of the road. This is a path through the forest. I think it took us less than 20 minutes. The walk up via the gorge will be much longer as you'll have to continue along the base of the hill to the gorge where you'll ascend past the palace to Marienbrücke and then come down from there to the palace.

The forest path was closed when we were there (December) Looked pretty steep to me. The road was steep enough

They do shovel that path in the Winter, and it's a nice walk through the forest. Of course it is steeper than the road as it is much shorter, but you won't have to worry about any ice on it unlike the road. Of course, wearing high boots always helps if there is any deeper snow. What will be certain is that in the Winter the path up the gorge will be closed with multiple skull and crossbone danger signs!!!!!

It took us less than an hour to walk up to the castle via the gorge path. There is a sign at the beginning of the trail but we had a tour guide to follow.
