Connectivity options to/from Hilton Munich Park

We are a family of three and will be staying at Hilton Munich Park next month. We have booked day trips from Munich that all seem to start at Karstadt near the central train station at 8 am.

At that time (on weekdays) what are our options to get to the central station and approx time and cost - taxi, tram and/or U-Bahn? Any recommendations for one over the other?

aparantly the tram 18 is 500yards away and it will bring you directly to the side of the main station and you only need to walk a couple of minutes then to where the tours go from.

The ticket you need is a "partner Tageskarte innenraum" (group day ticket innerzone) which is 11 or 12 euro (keeps increasing by a little every year) for all of you which will also do you in the evening to get back to the hotel.

Taxi would be something like 25euro+ and at that time of the morning would be probably slower as it can get stuck in traffic whereas the trams have priority.

There are a few options with public transportation, which you can see on the website for public transportation in Munich www.mvv-muenchen.de/en/homepage/index.html

As munich_wanderer described you have one option without a lot of transfers. Depending on when you travel there may still be a problem with construction on Tram 18. Currently there is a planned construction on this line until June 22. It may be the safest to check the website prior to your trip to make sure the plan for the construction doesn't change.

Considering that you want to be at Karstadt (Hauptbahnhof) pretty early, you may want to consider the fastest option to get there, which is taking bus 54, or 154 and changing into U3 (or U6) and changing to U4 (or U5). I know it sounds like a lot of changes, but they are very easy and this is the fastest option.

If you go to the MVV website (see above) you can enter the following into the Journey Planner:

From: Park Hilton

To: Hauptbahnhof

and you can enter your preferred arrival time and it will show all the options to travel.

Depending on how many days in row you are planning to use public transportation in Munich you may want to take a look at the option of several partner day tickets (€11.20 per day) or a 3 day partner day ticket (€25.90). Even if it is called partner ticket, it can be used by a group of up to 5 adults or a combination of adults and children.

Thanks for the great guidance! Even though the tram 18 option sounds more appealing (we would love to experience the sights and sounds of Munich in the morning- every European city seems to have a unique character) I think the U-Bahn option seems more practical. We are staying at the hotel for 5 days of which 3 straight days are day trips so it sounds like the 3 day partner ticket is what we need. I assume the same ticket allows us to ride the subway in the morning and take the tram on our return trip back to the hotel in the evening.

Yes you can take any public transport option you like as long as it is not outside the city center (which you probably won't), but you can see this on a map on the MVV website.

Have fun.
