Which platform at HBF for Munich to Vienna - railjet #63

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could give me the platform number that the Railjet 63 leaves from to go to Vienna. Train leaves at 9:45 am and is direct. I do understand that the platforms change all the time, but is there a general area to head for that these trains might leave from? Also, if we are looking at the overhead signs/boards, will it say Railjet 63 or just the train number? I have been reading that they do not give you very much time between posting the platform on the boards to the train actually leaving?

Thanks in advance.

DB timetable is the best source for this

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

Start: München Hbf

Destination: VIENNA

If you have found your connection click on the '>' symbol to see the details for it. Like the platform numbers.

Check this for your travel date. As for the dates I checked this train departs at 09:34. With platform #12.

The train will for sure depart from the main hall (main track shed) platforms 11-26. The platforms at the other parts of Munich Hbf are too short for such a long distance train.

As München Hbf is a terminal station and this train starts in Munich it will be at the platform 10-15 minutes before departure.

München Hbf platform 12+13 display.

Train number is below the departure time. In your case it will show Budapest-Keleti as final destination. With "Wien" (Vienna) will be also shown as a stop for this train.

And here a RJ in München Hbf now at platform 14.

RJ63 usually leaves at 09:34 from platform 12. But always check the boards.

FYI here is the train composition www.vagonweb.cz/razeni/vlak.php…

Be careful of the departure time - if you get there at 0945 it will have already gone. It will be in the station from 0910 until 0934.

NB you won't see the word 'Vienna' very often so get used to looking for 'Wien' - in your case, though, look for 'Budapest-Keleti', as in the picture posted by Abalada above, as that is the final destination of this train.

In Vienna you will be able to get off at either of the stations (Westbahnhof or Meidling), depending on which is more convenient for your hotel. Both stations are of course on the U-Bahn, but on different lines. Don't forget to buy **and validate** an U-Bahn ticket before using it or you risk being heavily fined.

NB when you buy your ticket from www.bahn.com it provides all the platform information, etc - for this route it costs from €29.
