1 week to tour Europe

We have 1 week in Europe arriving in Munich in mid Dec. We would like to see Austria and Switzerland. Any suggestion how to accomplish this? Any must see attractions/scenes in December.

Many thanks!

Be sure to include a visit to Neuschwanstein Castle while you are traveling through Bavaria. Also, Salzburg and the surrounding area is a must-see.

I would concentrate on the main sights, as one week is not really enough to tour 3 countries. Also you need to consider the weather. In case of heavy snow its no pleasure to drive on the highways and more so on the "national" way. If you are going on highways in Austria and Switzerland (autobahns) you need to pay a toll.

I would suggest the following itinerary that does not involve too much driving and still see some of the main sights.Drive out of Munich the day you arrive go to Austria visit Salzburg and the Salzkammergut area (2 nights) then drive to Switzerland

have a tour of Zurich and Luzern and the lake area (2 nights) return to Munich and spend the last two days there relaxing walking touring.
