Need place to drink beer like a Bavarian

I want places with the German atmosphere. Beer Halls, etc. Someone said that the beer gardens are open until the end of September provided the weather remains good. I just want the places with gut Gemuetligkeit, gutes unfiltiertes bier, und brezeln.

Dankeschoen fuer Ihre Antworten.

Frank and Mary

PS Also due they have any bier fests from Sept. 12th through Sept. 19th when we will be there.

This is the English-language forum -- you'll confuse more people than you'll clarify if you post in German.

(There's a German-language forum, too, if you're so inclined.)

Oktoberfest begins on September 19 in Munich...a little research would have saved you that heartache.

Biergartens anywhere are a delight in September.

If the weather remains good even longer.

Not exactly a "filter" criteria. Don't know a beer garden in Bavaria not fulfilling these criteria.

Here a list of Volksfeste in and around Munich (they are pretty generous with the latter). Not yet complete for 2009. See the ones of this year.

ganz-muenchen.de/volksfeste/…liste_index.html

Most will only move one day in 2009. Their order is rather fix as the tents and fun rides move from one fest to the next.

A must do in your case as it's close to Regensburg.

Boat trip through the Danube Gorge from Kelheim to Weltenburg monastery. Oldest monastery brewery of the world (since 1050). Excellent beer.

We liked the Kneitinger Brauerei in Regensburg. We visited their restaurant. Many folks were just drinking; we enjoyed the beer and the food.

Thanks, Abalada, for the help -- I spent a few minutes with the Google gods, but I knew you'd have a calendar on hand!

abalada,

You have solved one of the most perplexing problems in Germany: finding the small fests. The small fests in the small towns are much better than the Munchener Oktoberfest and the Canstatter Volksfest.

Thanks again.

Finding all kinds of festivals is a snap in Baden-Wuerttemberg. Just purchase a current EVENTS 200x Festefeiern in Baden-Württemberg for 4.50E which will list more than 5,600 events including most festivals within this German state. Even then, there's still lots that aren't in the book but it gives an excellent selection of them listed by dates and also by towns in the index, and it also includes major nearby events in other parts of Gerrmany, Switzerland and France.
