Is there a train that takes you from Frankfurt to Rothenburg? Or, how do you get there?

put your info in at www.bahn.de

2 1/2 hours with fast trains, 3 1/2 with slower ones. 2 changes.

Hi Linda,

Bigtyke is correct, but be careful entering the place names.

If you are flying into Frankfurt and want to take a train directly from the airport, enter: Frankfurt(M)Flughafen

But if you are in the city and want to take the train from the central station, enter: Frankfurt(Main)Hbf

Also, when entering your destination, spelling and amplifiers count. Enter: Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

Frankfurt to Rothenburg will require 3-4 different trains and 2.5-3 hours using the fastest connections.

You might consider instead a trip to the old walled towns of Gelnhausen, about 35 minutes from Frankfurt by direct train, and Büdingen, one hour from Frankfurt with one change of train in Gelnhausen (pretty convenient, eh?) Both are lovely places that don't have the name recognition or the international tourist horde that Rothenburg owns. Check them out:
