Wurtzburg to Prague.

We are staying in Wurtzburg and want to travel to visit Prague. All directions we see is to take a bus, we would rather take a train direct, is this possible? We see it is said we have to take the bus to Prague, wouldn't that be a long bus ride? We are in our 60s and want the most comfortable travel service. Thank You

Hi,

There are no direct trains . The best way will be train + Bus:

Train ICE Wurzburg - Nurnberg ( 1 hour )

Bus Nurnburg - Prague ( 3:30 hours )

Price is from 29 euro / One way if you book weeks in advance . Otherwise it will be 39 euro .

No direct trains from Würzburg to Prague.

DB introduced the express buses from Nuremberg to Prague last year because the train route to Prague is so slow and no upgrades in sight.

ICE train from Würzburg to Nuremberg, DB express bus from Nuremberg to Prague. These buses depart directly in front of Nuremberg Hbf (the main train station).

You can get this trip from EUR 29,00 per person if you book in advance. You can book at earliest 92 days in advance.

DB timetable

From: Wuerzburg

To: Prague

A possible connection by train only departs at Würzburg Hbf at 13:05 and is at 18:58 in Prague with one change of trains in Nuremberg. This connection is approx. 1 hour slower than the train + bus combination. Not the most comfortable option, but the cheapest. If you're interested I can post details. Here you can also travel for cheap without booking in advance.

It is very easy, we first took the same route 3 years ago and we are now in our 60's too. Then it was ICE to Nurnburg then change to one of those old rust red coaches and it screeched and scraped it's way along....6 hrs in all and it was a real TRIP. Now it's much easier, a nice modern bus from Nurnberg to Hlavni Nadrazi in Prague. Very comfortable and drops you off right in front of the train station, just a short walk from the Wenceslas Square. There are cabs to take you to your hotel also the Metro and Trams there for the local routes. And yes, you can take your roller bag but you will have to put it in the hold. It couldn't be much easier that that.
