I will go in December with some friends to Berlin. We would like to kow the best shopping area , close to restaurants and bars as well
as to Christmas Market
Berlin is quite a widespread city and you do not really have one centre ... that means even if you stay in Mitte you'll have to use public transport.
Berlin biggest shopping street is the Ku'Damm (Kurfürstendamm) but you have all over the city shopping malls with the normal high street shops. Along Friedrichstraße are shops as well, e.g. Quartier 206. There is a big shopping mall at Potsdamer Platz which is quite good.
In Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg you'll also find heaps of nice shops ... basically all over the city.
The same applies to bars and restaurants ... you'll find nice ones all over the place. My favourite areas are around Savignyplatz in Charlottenburg, around Winterfeldpaltz/Goltzstr. in Schöneberg, around Bergmannstr. in Kreuzberg and around Kastianienallee/Helmholtzplatz/Kollwitzplatz in Prenzlauer Berg.
Berlin has not just one Christmas Market. My favourite ones in the last couple of years was the one on Gendarmenmarkt. Check out www.btm.de closer to Christmas and you'll find a list with all the Christmas markets.
