hotels in berlin

we are travelling in berlin during end of September. We are student backpackers on a tight budget. Can anybody suggest nice and reasonably-priced hotel within walking distance from the main tourist attraction? Thanks!

Berlin is a huge and widespread city without a single centre.

You can stay more or less near many of the main sights - but not all. These places are however not identical with good nightlife - something Berlin is also famous for.

Berlin has an excellent public transport system operating 24 hours. Day ticket is EUR 5,80.

Best in your case will be probably to find something in the districts Mitte or Prenzlauer Berg.

Berlin has a number of really good hostels.

The Circus Hostel. A really amazing hostel in a fantastic location. They offer dorms as well as private rooms. Plus there are apartments. http://www.circus-berlin.de/

Hope you've a great time!

The Circus Hostels and the Fabrik have a good reputation but I personally don't know them. You could check out www.hostelworld.com for hostels.

As mentioned before Berlin hasn't really got a single centre and wherever you stay in Central Berlin you still have to use public transport.

The main sights are found in Mitte but that's where accomodation can be more expensive than in other areas.

As you are students you might like Prenzlauer Berg, Schöneberg, Kreuzberg or Friedrichshain.
