S-Bahn will likely go out on Monday!

If the S-Bahn goes on strike on Monday as expected, here are the emergency bus routes planned:

S1 S Wannsee <> S Oranienburg every 60 minutes

S2 S Blankenfelde <> S Bernau every 60 minutes

S25 S Teltow Stadt <> S Hennigsdorf every 60 minutes

S3 S Erkner <> S Ostbahnhof every 60 minutes

S41 Ring clockwise every 30 minutes

S42 Ring counterclockwise every 30 minutes

S45 cancelled

-

S46 S Königs Wusterhausen <> S Südkreuz every 60 minutes

S47 S Spindlersfeld <> S Südkreuz every 60 minutes

S5 S Strausberg Nord <> S Charlottenburg every 60 minutes

S7 S Ahrensfelde <> S Potsdam Hauptbahnhof every 60 minutes

S75 S Wartenberg <> S Spandau every 60 minutes

S8 S Grünau <> S Hohen Neuendorf every 60 minutes

S85 cancelled

-

S9 S Flughafen Berlin-Schönefeld <> S Westkreuz every 60 minutes

These are in addition to the emergency buses currently being run by the BVG, to replace major U-Bahn and tram routes.

@Phil

it probably seems to be a bit complicated for people who are not from Berlin.

The BVG, public transport company from Berlin who own the bus, tram and underground lines, has been on strike since Wednesday and probably will be until next Friday (14th March). Maybe even longer. At the moment the Berliners have to rely on cars, taxis, foot, bicycle or the S-Bahn.

The Bahn (train company) is now also threating with a strike from Monday onwards which means that the S-Bahn will only offer the above mentioned emergency service. The BVG is also offering an emergency service (I have posted info in the following thread http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187323-i135-k1787062-Strike_action_local_public_transport_March_5_14-Berlin.html).

If you are lucky than there will be train (either airport express or the S-Bahn) but if not your best bet will probably the taxi. The S-Bahn from Schönfeld will leave only once per hour, not sure about the airport express ... might even less.

On the following websites you might find some information

Hi BerlinGal thanks for the update but not looking good.

I will try & get the S Bahn if its still running into Berlin Mitte otherwise it will have to be a taxi.

Any idea of the cost of a taxi from Schoenefeld to Leipziger Str?

Taxis are much cheaper than in the UK but a taxi from the airport to Mitte will cost you approx. 30 to 35 euros. Could be a bit more or even a bit less.

Hello,

I'm in Berlin for over a month and I 'm planning tomorrow to fly to Venice, from Schoenefeld. The S-Bahn will be on strike, right? Is that fact affecting the Regional trains to the airport too?

I just heard on the news that the Deutsche Bahn (regional and ICE trains, S-Bahn) has come to an agreement with the unions and that their wont be a strike. Anyway, everything has been planned already so the train and S-Bahn service wont be running completely normal tomorrow. There will be delays and maybe even cancelled trains so you should allow more time to get to the airport.

You could call the hotlines to find out more on

0 8000 99 66 33 - Deutsche Bahn

030 297 - 43333 - S-Bahn Berlin
