Travel to Berlin from Cruise port

I am traveling to Berlin, Germany, on August 23rd. Does the cruise line transport people to the train station in Warnemunde (where the ship docks)? Is there enough time to see Berlin by the Hop on/off bus, especially if we are able to catch the first train at 8:05 am and arrive in Berlin by 11:30 am? Is there any scary moments on the train...like having only 7 minutes to get from one platform to another to make a train switch in Rostock? I'm a little worried about the time schedule in order to get back to the ship in plenty of time. The ship arrives at 6:30 am and departs at 11:00 pm. Any suggestions?

Check the comments under "Warnemuende" and also under "Warnemuende to Berlin Tours" in the "Search" feature of this post. There have been many comments on these tours and alternatoves to other cities closer to W. than Berlin you can do on your own.

You will need to allow 3.5 hours travel time each way and if you are not on an organised excursion and you are late returning, it WILL NOT wait for you. You would need to be on the 18:44 departure from Berlin Hbf and there is no guarantee it won't be cancelled...

At most you'd have 7 hours in Berlin. That is enough to do a HOHO tour, though IMO you'd be much better off joining a walking tour (4 hours). And really, you'd see very little, it's a city that deserves 7 days, not 7 hours.

Rostock or Schwerin may be a better day out.

Your whole post sounds more than a little worried! If you're worried now, think how worried you'll be in Berlin, looking at your watch all the time, wondering if it's time to go back to the station, if the train will be cancelled, or held up and late....

Is it worth it? Only you know the answer to that.

It's questionable whether it's worth it at all, given that you'd have to spend most of the day just getting to Berlin and back. It can be done, and it has been done, and people who have done it have enjoyed themselves. I would say it would make sense only if you could be laid back about the possibility of your ship departing without you, and enjoy your few hours in Berlin without anxiety.

Rostock, Schwerin, and Warnemunde itself are probably better options.
