Traditional German food on a bit of a budget

we will be staying in Mitte at the Ibiis Styles

where would you suggest for great low/medium cost German food in that area.

I guess by budget we would be looking at around 10 Euro for a main.

Also local style bars nothing trendy in that location as well would be helpful.

If you want some good food for cheap in Berlin you can go to Robbengatter. I paid 20 Euros for my wife and I and that included 3 beers.

Suggestions in here: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187323-i135-k3703…

And it's far from German food but the Vietnamese food at Monsieur Vuong is amazing, and affordable. The queue in the evening is there for a reason! And worth the wait. tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187323-d1…

But eating out is not that expensive in Berlin as it is (except maybe at the very touristy places). Tripadvisor and Foursquare probably have loads of suggestions as well.

When I tick the boxes for

- German food

- $ (cheap) and $$ (quite cheap)

- Mitte

... it comes up with 19 results, some of which score better than Gaffel Haus even. The first one seems to be a breakfast place but the #2 seems nice: Treffpunkt Berlin - Alt Berliner Kneipe tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187323-d1… , and #3 (Honigmond) too tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187323-d7… (I especially like the look of the food, see the photos... and the fact that they have no negative reviews at all).

Look here too: inyourpocket.com/germany/…German (don't know the cost)

And look at the ones under 'cheap eats' here: timeout.com/berlin/features/923/berlins-top-… (I can see my favorite in there, Monsieur Vuong and its fantastic Vietnamese food! Would be hard with 10 people though, they don't take reservations... but perhaps for lunch?)

You could also go to KaDeWe mall's food floor some morning, it's fun to watch the Germans stuff themselves with caviar and oysters and such.

Guten Apetit!

Dreamday! See my reviews for Berlin. All the restaurants we tried had mains for around 10 or less.
