Which train station to go from Berlin to Prague?

Hi folks

Travelling back from Berlin to Prague very early on a Monday - 4.30am. I've already booked the ticket, but it's a bit unclear which station it departs from. Also if it's the main train station, do you know if there will be late night (apx 3.30am) public transport there from the Friedrichshain Kreuzberg area?

Thanks in advance,

Joyce

I checked this journey on www.bahn.de and the train departs from Berlin Hauptbahnhof - then you have a 23-minute wait at Südkreuz. Your actual train, the IC 60457, leaves Berlin Südkreuz platform 5 at 04:59. You're better going off going straight to Südkreuz.

Regarding getting there - we'd need to know where you are. Kreuzberg-Friedrichshain is the smallest borough, but it's still quite a big area. A taxi would be best, though.

Hi,

the Ringbahn (Circle line) starts at 4am and runs from Friedrichshain or Kreuzberg directly to Südkreuz, which seems to be the best station for you - but as mentioned before, it depends where you start your journey.

BTW - it looks like you can only enter the seating coaches from Südkreuz onwards - so you had really better go to Südkreuz. They might not let you in at the main station due to the early morning.

This train starts at Südkreuz - the departure at 04:30 from Hbf is a Regional Express.

You can check with the BVG journey planer if there are decent connections to Berlin Südkreuz. Give as start point the address of your ho(s)tel.

fahrinfo-berlin.de/Fahrinfo/bin/query.bin/en

From: <postal code> Berlin, <street name> <house no.>

To: Südkreuz Bhf (Berlin) (S)

Your train ticket to Prague includes regional trains and S-Bahn trains to Südkreuz station. If you need to take an U-Bahn (metro), tram or bus you have to buy a local public transport ticket. BVG journey planer will tell you the costs.
