We walked from the Warnemuende dock to the RRstation and bought a ticket to Luebeck via Rostock. The train change in Rostock was no problem. In Luebeck we walked from the station to the old part of the city. Lots to see. Then, we finally stopped at a Cafe overlooking the main suqare and had our Marzipan fix. There are Marzipan stores, mostly labelled Konditprei and Cafe all over the city. We returned to the ship in trime for dinner.

For train schedules go to ww.bahn.de Since most of the discounted tickets require that you takle a Regio (slow) train, I would go for an Intercity or Intercitu Express (IC or ICE) train from Rostock to Luebeck; between Warnemuende and Rostock it is a sub-urban train.

You can get a good discount if you buy the ticket for the whole trip on the Internet, at www.bahn.de 92 days before your travel. You should edcude on the specifi9c trains you want to take. 2nd class is fine; you may want to spring for reserved seats. After 92 days, the closer the ticket purchase gets to the day of travel, the higher the price.
